Naesosa templestay Reservation and Transportation

1. Naesosa temple history and tresures

Naesosa temple is an ancient temple, which was built in the 34th year of the reign of king Moo of the Baekjae Dynasty (AD 633), by ven HyeGu DuTa, with his wish, May all the people who enter this temple achieve all their wishes!
Naesosa is a treditional temple holding 7 artifacts listed as 4 tresures and 3 tangible cultured properties. Naesosa is located in Byeonsan peninsula national park Bu-An-Gun, north Jeolla province. The peculiar scent from coniferous trees is perfect to get rid of worldly defilements.

“ Legend of Gwaneumjo”
Once the construction of Dharma Hall was completed, a painter entered into the hall and said, "DO NOT let anybody in until I finish painting." even though a month passed, the painter didn't come out. With great curiosity, a monk sneakily entered into the Dharma Hall. However, he was not able to find the painter but a large colorful Gwaneumjo. The bird was painting a mural with a paint brush in its beak.
Startled to see the monk, the bird vomited blood and suddenly soared into the sky without finishing the painting. The bird landed at the hill side of Mt, Neunggasan. Since then, the old monk built and lived in a small temple. People started to see the monk as "the incarnation of the been constructed on the site, an Cheonsucheonan Gwanseeumbosal (statue of the Bodhisattva of compassion) has been enshrined.

2. What is the templestay?

Temple stay is not only about Buddhism but a cultural-experience program to help you understand Korea better, in addition to experiencing a Korean Buddhist monastic life. You will achieve the kind of peace of mind that is so needed in this complicate modern world through various programs such as Buddhist Service(Yebul), Meditation(Chamseon), 108 bows, Tea Ceremony(Dahdoh) etc. People of all religions are welcome to participate in the temple stay. We are happy that you are open-minded to such an experience. We hope you will have countless pleasant memories from this short, personal journey.

1. How to Make a Reservation

We offer Templestay all year long, so the date you’re interested in is open. You can stay as long or as short as you like, on a weekend or during the week. Just e-mail me here at this address and I can make a reservation for you. I do need to know in advance how many others are coming with you (please let me know how many males and females) so we can prepare the rooms.
Please notify the office in advance (by email or 010-9215-4407) if you’re going to arrive on another day, or if you need to cancel.

2. Regulation

While you stay here, you should keep some regulation.

①Alcohol, smoking, eating meat are strictly prohibited around temple compound. if you   want to smoking, you have to go parking lot.

②The participants have to attend Chanting Service, Community Work, Meal time.

③The participants wake up AM 4:30 and go to bed PM 10.

④What to bring: Please bring your own toiletries: soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, towel, comfortable shoes and socks etc.

2) Price :
1) Resting templestay (without scheduled templestay)
* (1 night and 2 days) - Adult: 50,000.

4) Arrival and Departure Times

- Check-in time: 2pm-5pm (Please arrive no later than 5 p.m.)
- Check-out time: After lunch (You can leave whenever is convenient for you, but your room must be empty by 1 p.m. for cleaning purposes.)

3. How to get to Naesosa Temple

There are two ways to get to Naesosa temple (by express bus or by train)

①The first way of reaching Naesosa temple temple is by express bus.

②The second way of reaching Naesosa temple temple is by train.

③The third way of reaching Naesosa temple temple is by local bus.


1) by express bus (Seoul or Busan)
① Souel Central express bus terminal --(2 hours and half) --> Bu-An express bus terminal -- (50 minutes)--> Naesosa temple.

② Busan express bus terminal --(5 hours)--> Bu-An express bus terminal -----(50 minutes) --> Naesosa temple.
if you arrived at Bu-An express bus terminal, you have to transfer Bu-An local bus or taxi.

*local bus : Bu-An terminal --(50 minutes) --> Naesosa temple.
*Taxi fare is around 20,000 won.
*Local bus fare is 2,900 won.

2) by train (Seoul)
① Seoul Yongsan station --(around 3 hours)---> Jeongeup station --(1 hour and half) -----> Gomso terminal -( 10 minutes)--> Naesosa temple.

if you arrived at Jeongeup station, you have to transfer local bus or taxi.
